From Lighthouse resident to Lighthouse supervisor

I came to Lighthouse in 2005, I was 54 years old and my life was completely out of control. I had ruined relationships with my family and was in a place where I knew I needed help. I remember when I had my Interview for Lighthouse I told them everything that they needed to hear just to get me in there. Through the first year I learned a lot. I learned how to love and respect myself, I was able to build new relationships with people in sobriety, and a relationship with God. After the first year I was presented an opportunity to take a position as a Caseworker. I began to work with the men and ladies of Lighthouse and Rosie’s house. After 7 years when the women’s house ended I stayed and worked with the men for another 8 years. One of my personal goals was to reopen another women’s house as I knew how much this program did for me I wanted other women to have that chance as well. In all I was at Lighthouse for 15 years. Today I have my own home that I purchased and have lots of great memories and genuine friendships I have had to pleasure to develop through my time at Lighthouse. My job was more of a passion then anything because I understood what this program can accomplish, I still get calls today from men and women who have went through the program and have become amazing examples of what Lighthouse can do. My journey into sobriety started there and without them I would never be where I am at today, I am forever grateful for them.
