Serving on the board has been rewarding and humbling!

I was asked to serve on the Lighthouse Board around 2006. I work in the field of addiction so I was somewhat familiar with the program. I hoped serving on the board would help me to not only learn more about the program, but to help it grow.  I have watched it move from the houses downtown to the current Hall Street location. Now, we have Sandy’s House to serve our female population. Serving on the board has been rewarding and humbling- Rewarding because of the progress, but humbling by seeing all the hard work our brothers and sisters in recovery do daily to keep giving back. Without them this program would not be where it is and where it will grow to be in the future.

Serving on the board is part of my giving back. I have extended family members who have suffered from addiction and I have seen the chaos and damage it causes. I have also seen how life can be regained through hard work, dedication, program participation, and fully surrendering to God. My prayers are that by continuing to serve on the board I will be a small part of helping people on the journey of recovery and thereby restoring families.
